Ben Lyons studied history at the University of Oxford, graduating in 2011. He founded and chairs Intern Aware, a British not-for-profit that advocates for fair, high quality internships. Intern Aware works with employers, universities and government ? as well as interns themselves ? to improve the standard of internships. The organisation has helped deliver a significant increase in the proportion of interns that are paid in Britain, and has been recognised as Public Affairs News’ Voluntary Sector Campaign of the Year. Lyons has also worked as Senior Communications Manager for Virgin Media and as an Associate Director at communications and public affairs consultancy FleishmanHillard, where he advised blue chips on reputation management and policy issues including skills and employment. He is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University, Beijing, as part of the Schwarzman Scholars program. He is a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper, a PR Week 30 under 30, and a Churchill fellow.
