Dr. Gim is the President of Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI). He received both his B.A. and M.A. degrees in education from Seoul National University and got his Ph.D. degree in curriculum and educational policy from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). As a professor, he had taught curriculum and instruction in the department of education, Yeungnam University. He has been on a leave from the university for serving public duties as Education Secretary to the President of the Republic of Korea (2013-2014), the 58th Vice-Minister, Ministry of Education in Korea (2015), and the 17th President of KEDI (2016-the present).
