Morton Schapiro began his term as the 16th president of Northwestern University in 2009. He is a professor of economics and is among the nation’s leading authorities on the economics of higher education, with exper￢tise in college financing, affordability, and trends in educational costs and student aid.
He has written or edited nine books and over 100 articles. He has received research grants and contracts from numerous foundations and boards including the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Education.
He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the National Academy of Education.
